Biography

I’m a singer, songwriter and music producer, originally from the West Midlands, who loves all music and is heavily influenced by Electronic Dance and 80s Synth Pop!  I’ve collected over 40 years of different genres of dance music including Disco, Electro, Break Dance, Chicago House, Acid, Techno, Trance and more recent EDM.  80’s influences include The Human League, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, New Order and many others; I could go on forever!  I am also a fitness fanatic and love playing and watching sport.

I kept many years of ideas and scribbled scraps of paper by my bedside as well as whistling tunes into any device I could get my hands on after waking up in the middle of the night with an idea.  After acquiring a keyboard, microphone and Apple Mac I decided to create a home studio and do the thing I was supposed to have been doing for the last 30 years!  I also love to mix my favourite songs and go by the alias of DJ Ste Deeley.

My first song I Want You (My Perfect Jewel) is from the album It’s North Not South! and was written on 26th January 2019.  The essence of the song is about someone going through life not being able to give or receive love and keeps repeating the same pattern of emotionally attaching themselves to people in search of it.  They either reject the relationship or get rejected themselves and move on to the next.  They have to find love within themselves first and the rest will follow!

Family, friends and colleagues helped out by giving advice and inspiration to make the song, for which I am very grateful for.  The song has been compared to New Order and Daft Punk, which I’m happy with!  Many other songs followed and I promote my singles on social media, streaming and download sites.  I also upload to the BBC Introducing website.

I  completed and published my second single on 21st February 2019 called I Wanna Be Like You.  This song started out as a tribute to a work colleague who doesn’t have a care in the world and thinks pure love is ‘burger day’ at their place of work.  The song ended up another song about rejection!  The Human League, OMD, New Order, Ultravox and Squeeze have been mentioned as influences when discussing this song.

The third single was released on YouTube (7th March 2019) called Mother’s Love, which is about children not getting the love they need from their parents and spending the rest of their lives searching for it.  Probably a prequel to the first two songs.

The fourth song was released on the 21st March 2019 and is called Healing, which is a relaxed Ibiza chill out song. There are not many words to this, but as the title suggests it is about Healing and getting over all the rubbish of the past. It’s time to move on!

Song number five was released on the 29th March 2019 called Date Night about a couple going on a date, but one of the couple is desperate for love.

Song number six was released on the 4th April 2019 and is called You’ll be my lover.  This one is about there not being much love in the world and most people are just lusting after each other.  It has been said that it sounds like early Human League and Ultravox; also Right Said Fred!

The seventh single was written and made on the 6th April 2019 called Remember Me, which is reminiscing about a relationship and the ups and downs that ensued along the way.

Song number 8 was written and produced on the 30th April called Moving on.  This is about a couple moving forward in their relationship, employment and residence after enduring a rough time in their relationship.

Shortly afterwards the ninth song was produced on the 4th May2019 called Younger Years.  This is a Dance/Techno song, which reminded me of my younger days when he travelled and worked around the world including the bars and clubs in Greece and Cyprus!

The Tenth song was released on the 31st May 2019 called A New Dawn.  Another Dance/instrumental that represents my big passion for dance music.  Inspired by Avicci’s early sound.

On the 9th June 2019 I’m Sorry was uploaded to You tube.  As the titles suggests, the song is about saying sorry for frequently pushing their partner away when they get too close and love starts coming into play.  As mentioned in previous songs, they can’t love or be loved and sabotage the relationship when things go well.  This song is a more mainstream ballad with synthesized guitars and drums.

June 2019; Eastern Promise is a dance instrumental that has the same melody as his first single (Perfect Jewel) but with an oriental twist.  It is a meeting of east & west music inspired by my travelling around Asia in my younger years.

Dance song Secrets of Life was produced and uploaded to You tube on the 15th June 2019.  This one is a bit of an Ibiza club song!!

A Fickle generation was written on the 6th July 2019 and put to music that had been started a few weeks earlier.  It was uploaded to You tube the following day.  It is about the younger generation and their obsession with smartphones, social media and their status in society.  It is a spoken word type of alternative Hip Hop song, influenced by fellow Midlanders, The Streets!

You Don’t Want Me was released on the 20th July 2019 and is also available for download on the 23rd July.  This is a Dance/Techno type of song with some lyrics.  Its about someone realising they are not wanted by their partner and begging to be needed and loved.

Techno is Back was released on the 28th July 2019 and as the name suggests, is an old school sounding techno song.

Not From This World was released on the 15th August 2019 and is about being in love and having adoration for a beautiful partner.  I think it has a Pet Shop Boys type of sound to it.  Friends have compared the vocals to Sting, Gary Barlow, David Bowie and Morissey with synths!

I love you was released on the 20th September 2019 and is another dance song about getting back together and committing to each other.

The magic of Synths was released on the 23rd October 2019 and is a dance song with a few lyrics.  The focus is more on the synthesized music.

Dancing Robots was released in December 2019 and has an 80’s electro feel to it combined with a modern day anthem.

Ibiza Sunsets was started on Christmas eve and was meant to be a Christmas song! It turned out to be another Ibiza dance chill out song.  It was released in January 2020.

Sunshine in the Morning was released in February 2020 and is a happy summer sounding song about being in love in the sun!

Beyond Lockdown was produced and released on 21st March 2020 during the Covid -19 quarantine period.  It is an instrumental dance song that is influenced by 1990’s dance music.  The sea life theme video prompted the Twitter comment “Jean Mitchel Jarre meets Jacques Cousteau”.

Confusion was also written during the quarantine period.  It is about all the conflicting information on the Internet and not knowing what or who to believe.  This song along with an EDM song called School Days was released in May 2020 to coincide with my 50th Birthday!

Over the summer of 2020, I’ve had four of my songs remastered, I’ve remixed four Armada music dance tracks and I’m working on six of my own songs, which should start being released shortly!!

‘I’m coming for you’ was released in October 2020.  It has an old school electro sound with a bit of trap and dubstep thrown in.  The video has a Halloween theme with zombies and horror!! There have been many positive comments on Youtube & Twitter including “This so different I love it, video is great!” & “Perfect for Halloween!!!”

‘In the Eighties’ is a Christmas single about sadness and tragedy! Someone loses their partner in the 80’s and takes to the bottle with dire Consequences!! The song was released on the 9th December 2020.
